While we wait for our photos from =fenyxdesign I decided to upload a little teaser of our Princess Tutu cosplays from Katsucon! 8D Enjoy!!
This was taken during our photoshoot, so our Fakir isn't in this photo cause he was getting his single shots taken.
If you plan on making a comment about our pose or pointe shoes, please read this first! Our Kraehe is trained in pointe so she knows what she is doing, I am not trained in pointe so I have made sure my shoes were defective ones. Meaning they are deshanked and the boxes crushed. I couldn't go en pointe in them even if I wanted to. I did take ballet for 5 years when I was younger, and this cosplay has inspired me to take lessons again, but I don't remember all the positions so our Kraehe helped us with our pose's so they looked natural. I'm sorry if you are offended by our cosplays but it does not give you the right to say rude/immature things to us. We cosplay for fun and because we love the characters/series. If there is something wrong that really bothers you then please tell us in a mature and polite manner and we will gladly try to correct it.
I love your warning about Pointe Shoes!! I cosplay Princess Kraehe and I got so much crap from people because I wore pointe shoes about how I was going to screw up my feet...
I've been training in Pointe for 6 years... They don't even stop to ask sometimes. Walking around in them was a pain! I actually added a layer of padding to the inside for just walking because I knew I would only go en pointe for photos. That helped so much!!
Well I noticed on a lot of other Princess Tutu cosplayers photos that people were commenting about the shoes and poses and a lot of the comments were really rude and uncalled for so I wanted to try to avoid that. lol
I know! During our photoshoot we had a girl walk past us and rudely announce out loud how she hated Princess Tutu cosplayers cause none of them know what they are doing and how she is a legit ballerina! It was really uncalled for :c
I love the fact that you're not a trained ballet dancer because I was hoping to do Princess Tutu next month, and the fact that I'm not trained was really making me worry. What would you suggest for the shoes, exactly?
Aww, you shouldn't have to worry about that. Everyone is allowed to cosplay whom ever they want, and if someone says something negative about it tell them to go to hell!
lol Sorry, I just think the whole "only trained dancers should cosplay Princess Tutu" thing is stupid. Anyway, for the shoes. If you want to use pointe shoes I recommend deshanking them and crushing the boxes so you can't go up on pointe and they are easier to walk around in. But pointe shoes are really expensive, I managed to get mine for $10 from my local dance store by asking for defective shoes and explaining to them that they are for a photoshoot only. If you can't/don't want to use pointe shoes then you can use soft leather ballet slippers and add ribbons to them 8D
It's perfectly alright to be worried about it. I was worried about the same thing after reading the comments on other Tutu cosplayers photos, so I did lots of research on pointe and asked other Tutu cosplayers for advice lol
Well, from what many other Tutu cosplayers have told me, it is not safe to go on pointe unless you have been properly trained to do so. There are lots of risks involved, like rolling your ankle. You can always fake it, you can do lots of the poses with out actually going on pointe you just have to look up the different ballet poses and practice them a bit.
I might just have to put in a lot of posing practice, then! I really do want to look realistic, but at the same time, with the amount of cons I'm going to this spring/summer, I really don't want to do anything serious to my leg. It was bad enough when I pulled a thigh muscle halfway through HyperJapan this weekend. e.e
Thanks so much for all your help and advice, you make a beautiful Princess Tutu, and if anyone ever gives you any grief for not being a 'real' ballet dancer, I'll smack 'em!
I know exactly how you feel! I kept watch my friend as Kraehe go up on pointe when she'd pose and I wanted to do the same but I knew I couldn't. I have decided to go back into dancing so that I can hopefully make it to pointe someday, but I know that will take some time.
You're welcome, I'm glad I was able to help you out! And good luck with your cosplay, I look forward to seeing it when you finish! <3 Aww, thank you so much!! If anyone does the same to you when you cosplay her I'll slap them silly! 8D lol
I did Pointe for 2 years. It's brutal. That was very smart of you to deshank and crush the boxes so you dont try to do it and hurt yourself (Also deshanking them probably made it easier to walk around the con). My friend cosplayed as one of the characters from this show and came to me about pointe shoes and I made her buy Slippers instead. Everything looks beautiful and your poses are great. Keep it up
I don't care if you aren't trained on pointe, or can't do all the moves like a professional would. You look radiant in that outfit, and your face and looks are perfect for Tutu. Plus, it seems like you're really enjoying yourself! and with cosplay, that really matters.
