Ugh, so it's been about a week since I got back from the horror that was Otakon 2013. I've never been happier to be back from a con in my life. The short version; I can't remember a single moment where it was 100% stress free fun, there were moments when I had a good time, but they were few and far between. I didn't get hardly any sleep the entire weekend and I was barely at the con at all.
Thursday =Pandlers and I spent half the day at ~TheSilentShane's trying to finish up as many last minute things as possible before the lot of us loaded up the car and headed to the hotel. Once we had arrived and got settled in the room I realized I had left a few important things back at ~TheSilentShane's house which, in short, caused a disagreement to erupt due to all parties involved having lack of sleep and being hungry. Once we had all calmed down we managed to head over to badge pickup and meet up with a few friends and have some well deserved dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.
Friday was a big resentful nonexistant blur to me. I spent the entire time in the hotel room sewing the one costume I was most excited for and pretty much didn't get to wear. I had to cancel all my Friday photoshoots due to poor time management. And I basically hated everyone and had an extremely short temper with anyone who even breathed in my presence. I did, however, manage to throw Harley on (pig tail version) and walk the con for about 2 hours before calling it a night.
Saturday was a much better day for me at least, I had pretty much run out of anymore fucks to give and was done with the petty drama. I had an amazing Sailor Scout photoshoot with some adorable scouts we met Friday night and earlier that Saturday I honestly wasn't excited about the shoot after most our friends had to drop out last minute the week before, but after meeting the amazing girls that joined us on such short notice it turned out to be my favorite shoot the whole con!! Thank you so much to ~lexieschrei, ~CCKaulitz, ~LagunaFlare, ~SachikoPPG, and everyone else I met at the shoot, you all helped make my con so much better!!!
After the Sailor Scout shoot, =Pandlers and I did an impromptu Sailor Moon Project shoot with Jonny of Stuped Kam called 'Fight Like A Girl And Curse Like A Sailor'. The concept was to show the scouts battle worn, a side of Sailor Moon that was never seen in the show. The audience always saw them fighting and getting the shit beaten out of them by enemies but they never animated blood! Jonny wanted to make it look more real and we were more than happy to oblige lol
=Pandlers and I also did another battle worn shoot with Sarah of #CircleCosplay as Catwoman and Black Cat duking it out to see who was Top Cat of the comic world.
Last but not least, I did manage to wear that costume I was slaving over Friday night. I pranced around as Pirate Harley, a concept designed by ~NoFlutter, till the con closed Saturday night. I even managed to get filmed by Sci Fi Ninja Theater and gave them my best Harley impression (it probably sucked XD) and I'm excited to see their video of the con.
Of course, all good things must come to an end. After being in a cheery bubbly mood most of the day, it all came crashing down when I was mistreated by a BCC staff member who yelled and cursed at me and threw me out of the building all alone into a rave induced mob after we had to return to the con after hours to find our friends phone. Thankfully I have some of the most amazing friends ever and with their combined efforts they had the woman reported to Otakon Staff who had her removed from the event permanently. Just because we dress like crazies doesn't mean we should be treated poorly
Sunday I woke up with a fever and possible flu, no surprise there, I never fail to be extremely ill after Otakon :/ Stress induced sickness for the win.
In other news, my next con is Granite State Comic Con then I'll be taking a break from cons till February when Katsucon rolls around (aka my bday con!). In the mean time, I've opened cosplay commissions so feel free to inquire about costumes you'd be interested in. And, some of you may or may not know this about me, but I'm training to be a makeup artist so that means I'll be practicing and building up my portfolio by doing Cosplay Makeup Tutorials on my youtube channel. If you would like to request any tutorials send me a note or leave a comment and I would be more than happy to do it!
Thanks to all of you that managed to read this crazy long journal and keep on the look out for some fun Otakon photos coming shortly!!
